Are science fiction television shows bad for advertisers?

Note the average person thinks they are more resistant to advertisement than most people. Many people think the goal of an ad is to persuade a person to buy into the good / service advertised. While that is true, it is only a small part of the methods. What I mean by that is ads push more to be memorable so that the target audience actively know the product/service's existence. When the time comes for a consumer to want/need a service/product they can only choose from selections they actively know (unless they research).

Ads do work on Sci-Fi goers. However, the situation is more about whether or not Sci-Fi goers are the target market. You may be right to say that NFL fans would be the better target demographic for beer than Sci-Fi fans. But another product/service might cater better for Sci-Fi goers. Like... I don't know. Something with spaceships? You may be onto something since now that I think about it Sci-Fi goers tend to be part of the demographic that is internet savvy. That is in using ad-block and prefer uninterrupted streaming.

Since targeted ads are a thing now. I went to see what ads I got on youtube: beer commercials, car commercials, laptop commercials, online casino commercials, online broker, team management product, grammar correction app... Seems about right. But where are my spaceship ads? D;
