Are Somalis from the West increasing the cost of real estate in Somalia?

I built a home in the capital. The typical non-diaspora would not be able to afford the places diaspora are buying or building. We are not in competition with them. Diaspora Somalis have been propping the country up with remittances for decades. Not to mention building and buying homes stimulates the construction industry and employs workers. Non-Somalis are not tripping over themselves to invest in Somalia.

In Canada foreign buyers are a scapegoat who make up less than 10% of buyers. The issue in Canada is the fact that the population is increasing due to mass immigration and there are not enough homes being built. Not to mention that most of the country is zoned for single family homes. Its an artificially created problem that can be fixed with zoning reforms and slowing down immigration.
