Why are some people still living the legacy of the Confederacy if it only lasted 4yrs?

There is more nuance then this.

There are two types of people who support the confederacy:

1) rich people whose ancestors made money off plantations, who want to maintain that social order. The “Donald Trumps” of the world, essentially.

2) poor people in Appalachia/Deep South who have no job opportunities and have been brainwashed to believe that the industrialized North/major cities are leaving behind coal minors and small farmers. These are the people who fear that automatization and outsourcing and a rising immigrant population are taking their jobs away.

The latter is the one you refer to. The former, however, is the one who brainwashes the latter through Faux News.
