People don’t really give them a meaningful chance. They might try it out a few times and write them off as bad without actually learning how to utilize and optimize them.

Like death sorceries/magma sorceries are the most misunderstood spells in the game imo especially the rancor spells. It feels like only a small amount part of the community actually appreciates and know how to use them.

I tried them out the ancient death rancor once and thought they were garbage because of the low damage. Came back to it and actually used it for a while and learned the rancor spells shouldn’t really be used for normal damage but for poise damage.

Paired it up with a heavy weapon(Greatsword) and I was breaking bosses stance with two charged ancient death rancor casts and a charged R2. Ancient death rancor is legit just a long range tracking heavy weapon R2 hit poise damage wise. The spell can make bosses a joke if you know how to use it right.
