Why are there no black people in accounting? (Serious)

I go to school in the south at a not small not huge state school. Tons of black people in my accounting classes. I've noticed though that as I've gotten toward the end of my studies, easily 95% of them (nearly all of the guys) have seemed to switch majors. I'm Hispanic and I've been friends with most of them and it's just felt like they aren't very interested in the field and that they don't really look at the bigger picture in regard to accounting. The caveat is that most have been football players which has made it likely very difficult to really spend the time necessary to do well (it's hard to enjoy something if you're not doing well) so perhaps that's why they switched. It's been strange because they've all seemed to have a much better grasp on it than I did without much effort yet they all switched.

I'm working full time in private as I finish up and there are no black people in accounting, only one Indian girl, and a few asians. I'm the only Hispanic. Ironically, tons of black engineers and IT guys.
