Are there others who lurk on both r/solarpunk and r/collapse? How do you handle the contrast?

Pessimism is fine to have especially if you need to look forward and determine if there are issues with something happening now.

However, in my opinion, it is not good to be only pessimistic because by always looking at what can go wrong, or what is wrong is also reinforcing the idea that bad things happen.

So optimistic people are needed to dream up, invent and may have the will to create change. They have hope. Also, if we have no hope, then how can we expect there to be change? Hope festers change and also gives people the will to make it change.

Now I know someone is going to respond and tell me how I'm not exactly right and that's true. But in general that's how I feel. We need both, so we can work out the kinks in whatever future we want, but we can't just have pessimistic or optimistic people. We need both.
