The road up over hill after the petrol station us very narrow but the ones coming from the estate to the petrol station are wide enough for 3 or 4 abreast.
I'm not originally from the area, I moved her 5 years ago but I love it. If you want a mental nightlife and loads of restaurants on your doorstep then it's not going to suit you. I find it has the charm of being small and quiet with the added benefit of having Swords less than 15 min drive away and Malahide 2 mins on the train (20-25 min drive).
The village itself does have
A host of beaches a short walk away
The nature reserve
The estuary
Ballymastone forest (what's left of it anyway)
Newbridge house and Park
Tennis club
Gym
Library
Gaelic club/soccer club/athletics club/hockey club etc etc
About 300 golf clubs
2 pubs in the village (another in Portrane and the hotel at the beach)
Bakery
3 coffee shops
3 pharmacies
Couple of shops (supervalu being the main one)
Few different take aways
The train station is also in the village, making it convenient to get to from about 95% of the houses here.
The issue with it is that it is becoming overpopulated (and I'm one of the people who caused that) and apparently the schools are full and the trains don't run frequently enough nor do they seem to be adding any more capacity to add passengers to the ones that do run. The bus service is apparently shite too.
Did you manage to buy anywhere or are you still looking? Can't imagine it's fun at the minute.
