We aren't willing to grow and improve, and it's hurting the game.

I think the best thing to do is watch pros and explain YOURSELF why they made the decision they did. I recommend every find a pro or high level player who plays your main a lot (obvi I watch Shadder) and when they do something pause the video, rewind, and think why they targeted that one person, went to that one area, retreated, advanced, etc. It's difficult and I was initial annoyed that shadder never had any videos discussing strats and such, he always said just watch the gameplay and figure out yourself. Honestly, figuring it out yourself forces you to be in the shoes of the player, and it ingrains the thought process in your head a lot faster than tip videos would.

An example is IRL I play jazz on the saxophone. In jazz there are "Jazz Standards" or tunes that you should know if you are a jazz musician. These are like Autumn leaves, Straight no Chaser, Tenor Madness etc. Theres a book called the "Real Book" which has all these songs written down in sheet music and has become one of the most popular sheet music books. However, Jazz purists hate it because it makes the player READ the music not LISTEN to it and after all music is all about listening.

I tried to apply it to getting better at the game, by THINKING about what to do instead of doing what I was TOLD to do. I have improved a lot both in sr but more importantly as a player because of it.
