I didn’t know they were two different writing styles. That’s quite a new concept to me; I didn’t think of it like that.

I guess I worded my post badly; my problem isnt her keeping good characters and focusing on them, but her characters are the only things she cares about now. Her story is simply thrown somewhere in the back of her mind, drowned by useless details that don’t really have much to do with it. Like someone else said, she’s fallen into a world building trap, where plot is the last thing that progresses. She’s not doing it wrong in the way she wants to write it, but she’s on an extreme side of the spectrum where her story is ignored just to she can add another’s trait to her people or whatever.
