Is Ark survival evolved good?

It's not a game I would recommend, and I bought it a couple days after it was released on ps4. The official online community is one of the worst i've seen, unless you can actually find a good PC dedicated unofficial with active members and non-abusive admins, or play singleplayer, but singleplayer feels so empty with only dino AI to keep you company, and if you have a friend who wants to join and play with you in your SP world, the tether distance makes it almost pointless (coming from someone who has a couple hundred hours in singleplayer, alone, and with a friend sometimes too).

PvP (more like Player vs. Offline Base) official was made for players to be in a tribe, the grind in this game is huge for a solo player. Some tames can take hours, and raising some babies can take literal days. Allying with other tribes can be a huge help, but you never know if you'll be able to trust them or not, as there are still various ways for them to grief you. Then there are alpha tribes, which some can be very helpful and friendly, and some can be huge assholes, who wipe you everytime you get above wood or stone (but the same could be said for all multiplayer games, with helpful and asshole players) so you have to be careful which server you join. Apparently with this new release, they have taken down all Offline Raid Protection servers and have yet to add anymore, so your base will need to be well hidden and well defended, or you will lose everything while you're offline.

PvE (Pillar vs. Everything) official is much easier for a solo player, but there are still various ways for others to grief you. With pillars littering the entire map, and bases that are unnecessarily long, that drop your FPS to the single digits while waiting for their base to load in. There's not much else to say about PvE.

Now, with the official release of the game, and with the addition of (too few) fresh servers, everything i've mentioned is not a problem just yet, but it will be very soon.
They released a new map, but didn't release enough servers for people to play on it, and just trying to join one is an exercise of frustration in itself, as they are almost always full.
The developers release patches without actually testing them, so everytime there is a patch, there's a patch for the patches patch..i'm not joking. Two 3gb patches since official release already.

No, I would not recommend this game, or I would recommend buying it on sale, but never for full price.
