Arlington considers speed cameras for school zones

Here in Wicomico County, MD the cameras can be 1/2 mile* from the school, and are supposed to operate "anytime children may be present", but in actuality, they seem to run 24/7.

The problem is most of the cameras are "no where" near the school, for instance, on is behind a school on US13 where there's a large parking lot/open field, then a tall fence before the highway. It catches unsuspecting drivers going to Ocean city.

Another one, the school is in a wooded residential neighborhood, again, the camera, is out on a main road where you can't even see the school from, and you have to make two turns to get to.

Another one is on that same main road, going by a church up on a hill (quite a ways back from the road), well, no signs for a school or anything, but that church runs a christian school, so speed camera.

I know of many tickets on Satudays, evenings etc. The excuse always is well perhaps there are kids staying after school for a club or sports. But there are no kids out walking around if so.
