I see the large disparity in sentence. But one thing we must think about is that 2-3 years was not just a jail sentence. It most likely had years of probation, hundred of hours of community service, a public apology and restitution to the victims.

By not admitting guilt he won’t be doing any of those things. Remorse means you can be rehabilitated. If you don’t think what you did was wrong you can’t even start to be rehabilitated.

At this point what he did was no different than armed robbery and kidnapping.

If he does not think what he did was wrong, what’s to stop him from doing it again? Since he didn’t care about the law when he had a bounty license what makes you think he will even think about the laws when he does not have a bounty license?

This guy does not think laws apply to him and therefore can’t be rehabilitated. The sentence is to protect other people from him.
