. Enlisted pay may be low, but soldiers get pretty good benefits, it seems (at least while on active duty). Free/subsidized housing, food, and healthcare, plus skills that can be used in a civilian marketplace--more than what many civilians have. It seems unfair to pay illegal immigrants full pay to get all of that, especially if not deployed into a battle zone. Giving them the just enough for basic living, though, seems like a great way for them to prove their loyalty. I'd also say take it one step further and limit this to Mexican immigrants.

Yes, because suggesting that people who come here illegally for a better life should get a chance to become a citizen by proving their loyalty while getting free housing, food, healthcare and training is really evil. better we just role out the red carpet and give them all this shit for free, along with citizenship, while so many natural born citizens themselves can't even attain this level of opportunity and stability.
