Arthas, My Son by Timur Dairbayev [x-post /r/ImaginaryKnights]

My advice would be, to someone who doesn't know RTS games, is to play the campaign first. You have Reign of Chaos and the expasion : The frozen throne.

Play them in order, and don't rush it. This will give you a very basic understanding on whats it about.

I recommend finishing them(or at least a few hours so you understand the very basics), but if for whatever reason you got bored you can start playing multiplayer matches vs a computer.

THe "basic" W3 game is like chess, you vs an opponent. You have to choose between multiple races and maps. Each one has pros and cons. You need to do 2 things basically, build your economy and your army. Then you can destroy the enemy. Of course, there are hundreds of decitions you must make and also have mechanical skill to get good.

This is the first part, the second part are the custom games, this is what makes W3 truly shine. If you buy the oficial game you can play on on the blizzard servers, if you pirate it try Eurobattle.net or Garena.

There you can joing the lobby and you see dozens of games being hosted, simply click on one and join in. Some people will expect you to be an expert and be assholes if you are not, ignore those and keep playing until you either get better or find someone more resonable. I suggest you also try "noob"games, which are for begginers.

Or best, go to Warcraft 3 hive and play the maps first in single player, so you are not completely unprepared, some maps only work with others, but a lot of them work alone.

I know this was a long post, but I really love the game! If you have any questions ask away, now or even later when you start playing.
