Article 50: Theresa May signs letter that will trigger Brexit

Our history is pretty clear if you look past the surface though.

Agreed, I'm very proud of almost all of it.

No, it really doesn't.

It really does, unless you think somewhere like Rhodesia has prospered since we left?

Germany doesn't call the shots, they have a lot of sway just like any of the largest economies do, including us.

We never had as much clout as Germany did in the EU, if we did then we wouldn't have voted to Leave.

Much of what the EU has done it's done with our support, not against us.

Wrong, it was done with our Governments support, the people were not consulted. I put most of the blame on Tony Blair, he nearly ruined this country.

We're only separated by the ridiculous desperation to cling on to our failed empire held by our oldest generations

Do you seriously think that we have more in common with EU nations like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania than we do with ex-Commonwealth nations like Australia, Canada and New Zealand?

Do you think we share more cultural heritage with Slovenia than we do with the USA?

A few harsh winters and we will solve that.

Shame on you, if a 'harsh winter' ever claims your parents or grandparents I hope you remember saying that.

I think millennials are the weakest generation in history, I don't wish death upon them though.

It will be, except people like you want the EU to fail. It's not good enough for you to leave amicably.

I only really care about our own success to be honest but I think a frosty relationship with a struggling EU will ensure that there is no possibility of ever rejoining, which I regard as important for my children's future.

That's not even close to the only problem we had.

I didn't say it was. Germany paying their debts would have helped though.

Which is difficult because Russia have already invaded. There's no way a referendum could be without influence at this point. The simple reality is that it's already been decided that Russia does not own Crimea.

It's a complex situation. Probably best for us to stay out of it though since you worry about the Russians starting a war?

It's not about scary Russians, it's just a simple reality that they are far closer to outright hostility than any EU nation. If you looked at the actual points rather than the strawmen you're chucking up, that would be good.

Which actual points? you aren't making any, it's all about your feelings.
