Is this article I wrote accurate? (+ other questions about Turkish politics from an outsider in the comments)

The Dogan Media agency and the Gulen movement are at war with Erdogan.

It's very obviously the other way around. Erdogan and AKP trying to silence any and all criticism. Let's not forget that Erdogan and Gulen were closer than close at one point. This is a power struggle between Islamic factions.

The main contributors in English are the Hurriyet Daily News from Dogan Media and TodaysZaman from the Gulen movement.

No one reads Zaman and similarly they take no notice of Sabag & Yeni Safak as all are maniultaed. Dogan more impartial. The real English language press is BBC, The Economist, The Guardian etc.etc. and has no reason to be biased.

the rest of the international media get their sources from them.

Most international media have their own reporters on the ground. No reputable international outlets will use other press as main sources.

It's not only AKP who wants to change the constitution, it's also the opposition!

But the opposition don't want to change it to concentrate power under one man... the opposition want constitutional changes to be more democratic, not less as the AKP/Erdogan want.

In fact the model will have checks and balances, the president will be able to get impeached.

Comedy central. Who will impeach him when he controls all organs of the state???

Ahmet Necdet Sezer was a president and he was totally against conservatives.

He was impartial in all presidential decisions. Erdogan is not and is flaunting the current constitution as though he has lareday changed it. The signals are not good...

vain.

I know you're just following the media from the Turkish opposition but this is just an outrages statement. These laws are actually brought in line with American and European security laws. If you want to see the comparisons have a look here http://www.dailysabah.com/legislation/2015/02/24/parliament-passes-16-items-of-security-bill-aligned-to-eu-standards

Quoting Sabah, a mouthpiece for Erdogan's rhetoric, is comical... use original sources if you want to argue intelligently. The new laws allow police to use violence to stop peaceful protest and dissent and give power of lethal force against masked protesters. Not allowing peaceful protest is against EU law.

In fact Freedom House ignored the prisoners released. Not only that it was the AKP who changed the law to prevent pre-trial detentions. This was a law in place BEFORE akp came to power.

Turkey has the highest number of jailed journalists in the world, many of whom are still in jail pre-trial.

Look this is just unfair. Erdogan was saying men and women aren't the same as in a pregnant woman can't do the same thing as a man and shouldn't be expected to so. And he asked for "equivalance" and "justice" for females.

Words fail me. Too many misogynistic quotes from AKP and Erdogan to count. His mantra is that women should stay at home to tend the house and pop 3 babies.

Actually the AKP's percentage is hovering around 43 percent looking at survey results from multiple companies.

OP said "recent polls show that AKP’s popular support has fallen from the 45-47 percent mark to roughly 41 percent.", which is correct. i.e. RECENT.. not average of polls over whatever time period best fits your counterargument.

--bottom line, Atopha is an AKPtrol on the case here trying to counter whatever bad press they see with weak argument.
