Why "Artist", not "Musician"

You ever go to a nice restaurant and see a 3/4 piece jazz ensemble playing happily in one corner for your time there? That's a musician.

Sure, I have a piano and synths, maybe even some other random instruments for sampling, but i'm not a creature of dark corners and accoustic instruments, able to pleasantly diddle around on my instrument of choice for endless hours amusing all around me.

I'm a creature of work, of slaving over a piece for days upon days, giving a larger work form by notation and effects, mixing and sound design, composition and instrumentation. I've even done this professionally, ran events for other groups, made them sounds as best as possible.

I am no more a musician as a race car mechanic is a race car driver.
