If you end up replacing the tiles remove them carefully they are worth a mint on the grey market. And as mentioned above they are harmless unless crushed or broken.
Many people have homes with a few tiles broken or missing and since they aren’t made anymore people need to find replacements to accomplish small repairs or cracked tiles. I’ve had to buy a few for the above reason and they go for $5-10 if you can even find them., and there is no better more durable siding option. They also hold paint really well so I’ve never had to repaint my house in the 15 years I’ve owned it. Keep them in good repair and they are totally safe. If you don’t like them just pay someone to cover over them with vinyl siding but I wouldn’t pay for an “abatement”.
