Asian American Moving to Abilene for Work

I grew up in Abilene in the 80s/90s with many Asian and Hapa friends. I think you'll find a larger Asian community that you might expect in a dusty West Texas town, and that's due to the Air Force Base and the colleges.

In less ancient news, my young nephew and niece grew up in Wylie (a neighborhood/but-kinda-its-own-town in Far South Abilene), and I would say that about half of their friends were Asian just due to the fact that my nephew and niece are hardcore into the STEM scene. Everybody seems to get along very well. Many of the most successful business owners and professionals in Abilene are Asian.

This is gonna sound crazy, but watch the King of the Hill episodes that feature the Hills' Asian neighbors, the Souphanousinphones. King of the Hill is a damn-near perfect presentation of what can expect living in Abilene (and I mean that in a mostly good way).
