Maybe the block universe concept? Basically everything that happens past/future/present 'already' is. Our perception of the current, recent past is just our limited perspective. However, I find this peculiar because if the undesirable is merely this, why isn't the desirable? It's similar to the question posed to Sam in a free will question I can't remember about the bad and something like the good of his daughters. I found his explanation surprisingly inadequate.

A close friend of mine decided to suicide was the only option. He was an engineer when I was doing lesser things. He had a wife and I had nothing stable. He decided to end his life and I've no idea why. Maybe the only condolence is an appreciation for the life we still have?
