I was asked if I was Uber eats when going into a resturant.

Now you’re making excuses for the behavior. That doesn’t change the fact that it’s an impolite way to greet someone especially a customer. When someone is expecting polite or formal behavior in a scenario, like being greeted in a restaurant, impolite behavior even if just mildly informal behavior can stand out as being especially rude. So you may have different expectations in terms of what is considered polite behavior than OP, but I don’t think that invalidates their feelings. To me, it’s impolite. Honestly customer service in canada is really shitty compared to the states so I’m not surprised most people here seem to think this is acceptable.
