"Asked Jed York about 49ers signing thrice-arrested Jerome Simpson. He said "You have to ask Trent. I don't know what the thinking was.""

I think there is a communication error going on here so let me try one last time:

I am indifferent towards York with respect to the topic you brought up about how his firing of coach Harbaugh sabotaged our franchise. I don't share that view with you, I think that is an over-reaction, and something that R/49ers would be repeating like a broken record back in early January.

Since then, many of our fans have come to terms with it and started to notice the issues we had with Harbaugh but never noticed or cared because we had a great three years under his four years here. That being said, I also take the issue Harbaugh brought with him everywhere he goes where he can turn around a program and then wear our his welcome with athletic directors and owners. He's had a only around 3-4 years each place he's been a head coach and I'd be shocked if he stays at Michigan longer than 4 years, but Michigan WILL be a competitive team again no doubt. But will he win a National Title? I wouldn't bet on it, but he may go to more BCS bowl games like he did at Stanford.

Would I rather have kept Harbaugh if it were up to me? Most likely, yeah, but nobody on our team seemed to buy into anything he was selling with his rah rah antics that worked his first few years. He seemed disinterested and bored, he was unaccountable when we blew 21 point leads, and that NEVER happened when he first got here. He was always saying the blame for any loss was on him and that he didn't get it right before the game or prepare his team for that week etc. But in 2014 from week 1 or 2, (week 2 was our first loss), he was apathetic, the players reeked of frustration with his lack of enthusiasm and confidence in them. A lot of things happened.

Oh, and if im an owner, I don't want my HC and GM rarely comminicating but when they do, it's just a one line email. That's dysfunctional and we went from 13 to 11.5 to 12 and then out of nowhere 8 wins each season. Something changed or stopped working, and if I HAD to choose to keep Harbaugh or Trent Baalke, I'd take the good GM over the egomaniacal coach who creates unwanted tension and conflict in the organization and then demands to be the highest paid HC without a Lombardi.

York even said before 2014 season, "I would be so happy to and I really would love to extend Jim's contract and pay him what he believes is fair. I'd love to do that, he's set on winning a SB, and so am I." He wasn't firing him for not winning a SB in 2014, he didn't extend him because there's something toxic he was being to the franchise and it had become an issue such that actions had to be taken. It's business.
