Aspiring Teenage Entrepreneur in Need of Help

First, be aware that if you are to post on Kickstarter, you should note for people who'll simply copy your product and use their experience to get it to market far faster than you will.

But from my own experience being much like you when I was a teenager (at 16 I organised 2 concerts and made about $3k profit in 2 days, then at 18 I started a site that within 2 years topped $200k in a year). But my advice, I highly advise you against spending $40k on this. Sorry for not being more encouraging...

Reason is, I know from my own experience that you can get quite a lot of success from pure dumb luck at this age, you'll be dependant on that - pure dumb luck.

And the reason for that is that there is SO much about business which you don't know about and it's much better to fuck up and lose $400 than to lose $40k.

Some things you may not know could be how to start a company and keep it running clean so the IRS/govt. doesn't destroy you. How to find a trustworthy manufacturer in China. How to effectively market this product. How to find out who your ideal customer is. And quite a lot more.

So I'd suggest you to hold onto this idea for now and try something lower risk that you can use for experience. Use these next few years trying different things and remember to fail fast.

Or just go through with it and either through luck or due to your own skills you could make millions :)
