we were both changing careers into tech/engineering via one of those 12 week ridiculously hard boot camps. I showed up for the install fest, ancient macbook under arm, and was terrified. I remember even fantasizing for a second about running right back out the door. But there she sat, she made eye contact and goes "Hi! I'm willBeMyBestFriend!" I smiled and said hi too and decided to stay. Day one of the class was the next day and there she was again, sitting alone at a 2 person desk. I walked over and asked if I could sit, she said of course, and together we sat every day for the next 3 months.

She was an ex teacher, I was an ex baker. So we kinda looked to eachother like 'well shit if an ex bread baker / kindergarten teacher can do this surely I can too.' and leaned on each other that way. 3 years later and a country apart I still can't imagine my life without her.
