Assuming RDI/BDI...did the police screw the whole thing up or was the Ramsey's deception very successful?

Okay, let's look at it from another angle. If I can't prove to you that the Rs did it, I can tell why you it's extremely unlikely that an intruder did it. Firstly, where's the point of entry? John initially said that all of the doors were locked and the basement window has been disproved as an entry and exit point. Then, what is the likelihood that any kidnapper who wanted to extort the Ramseys would ask for money that would be considered...well, disposable to them? It was John's bonus amount, hardly going to cripple them financially. Then we have motive, if money or hatred for John was the motive, why kill JB in such a complicated way? Why sexually assault her? Why wipe her and redress her? Why a time spacing between the two fatal injuries? Why the poor wrist ligatures that would have restrained nobody and the tape applied after she was unconscious or even deceased? Why wrap her in a blanket and leave her with a nightgown in a room that is difficult to even find unless you know the house well? How is it that this intruder has committed no crime like this before or after JB's death? If it was an outsider, they are clearly skilled at breaking in and murdering without making themselves known to anyone. Not impossible but I'd sooner believe the moon is made of cheese. Again, JMO.
