Atlas Shrugged is a terrible book

I'm kind of the opposite. I was also the obnoxious "smarter than you" kid in high school, but in my case, it kind of worked out. Went to an ivy for undergrad, and am at an ivy for law school now. Of course, these days I understand that there's more important things in the world than being smart, and going to a good school humbled me a lot. But truth be told, I do think there's something to be said about Rand's hatred of forced equality.

I read recently that elite schools are starting to consider test scores as being an elitist way to choose potential students. The end result of that kind of egalitarian thinking is that any metric of quantifying competency comes across as elitist and privileged. But for things like engineering, shouldn't we want spots at Caltech and MIT to be taken up by kids who are, you know, actually good at math?
