Attitudes shifting on 377A but Singapore Government cannot ignore views of ‘middle ground’: Shanmugam

The law is trying to accomplish this act of affording 'equal' status to LGBT groups by not acting on it, while at the same time also placating the religious freedom of people in Singapore. LGBT folks are not 'criminals waiting to be prosecuted' because it's been stated categorically that they won't be prosecuted. Whether this middle ground solution is ideal, etc. is now a more subjective question, but I don't think it's a fair critique (to say that government doesn't treat LGBT groups as equal citizens) to level at the government. Like I said, it's a compromise, middle ground.

Like, I love porn, but as a symbolic act to placate the religious groups' values some porn sites are blocked in Singapore. I loathe this, but understand it's a middle ground in multicultural Singapore.
