Austin Public Health Asks for Patience as COVID-19 Rollout Continues

Texas' distribution plan aside ... I'm asking about APH's plan now.

When one registers on your site, you ask a number of questions, such as one's race, if they have insurance and if they've been to a doctor recently for a non-emergency issue.

Are the answers to these specific questions used to prioritize or de-prioritize this registrant for the vaccine? Or, to put another way ... suppose two people register at the same time :

  • Person 1: white, has insurance, has a regular healthcare provider
  • Person 2: not white, has no insurance, does not have a regular healthcare provider

Suppose these two people are the same age and have the exact same risk factors putting them into group 1B.

Will APH (and I'm not asking about DHS, I'm asking about APH) give these two people equal priority in who gets the vaccine first, or will one get priority over the other? And if it's the latter, which of the factors I mentioned will be used to determine their priority?

Your answers keep saying that you will accept everyone -- fine -- and I assume you'll accept both, but will one receive priority over the other?
