Ivermectin's potential use against Covid was an Australian discovery in April 2020, and the potential triple therapy of ivermectin in combination with other medicines was again also another Australian innovation in August 2020.

Why did they not give it a go?

Because "In addition to uncertainty around benefits for patients with COVID-19, there are common side effects and harms associated with ivermectin, including diarrhoea, nausea and dizziness." (Source) It sounds almost as pathetically terrible as COVID-19 (as described in a recent government press conference): nausea, diarrhea, migraine and fatigue (Source).

The only treatment prescribed for Covid in Australia (except for ICU cases) is paracetamol or ibuprofen -- which has the same side effects as ivermectin (Source). Yes - you're allowed to have diarrhoea, nausea and dizziness from ibuprofen, but not from ivermectin.

The Australian government knew about ivermectin's success overseas as early as June 2020 (Source). Read that report (pages 23-24) and have a good look at the name of the reviewer. That's the man who, a months earlier, received $1.7m to study 'vaccine preparedness' (Source) and later oversaw the lockdowns in the Australian state of Victoria in his government position for a year.

To their credit, the Australian government immediately funded research into ivermectin as a COVID-19 cure. They announced its funding in June 2020 (Source).

That research was kept quiet and finished in February 2021 (Source). The research has never been published. There was not even an announcement of its completion at the time. And Australian media wondered why the Minister for Health wouldn't rebuke the Minister
Craig Kelly in February 2021 for promoting ivermectin? Perhaps it was because theMinister for Health himself funded ivermectin research himself and he said nothing.

One month later, The Informer claimed a government official had contacted them to reveal that the government was suppressing research on ivermectin (Source).

The unpublished Australian government-funded ivermectin research was obtained and utilised by the FLCCC Alliance in January 2021 (Source p67) who claim to have saved lives worldwide.

But as of August 2021, Australians and the world are still being told to wait for this research to be published (Source).

So now the regulatory authority has banned GPs from prescribing ivermectin off-label, stating its increased prescription may lead to a shortage for treating scabies (Media release source).
