Up until recently there used to be a debate about whether Australia should align closer with USA or China. Now the anti-CCP sentiment completely dominates. If China handled things more intelligently they could have had an actual 1st world ally. Trump was the perfect opportunity to bring ANZ and the EU more to China's side, instead of making more enemies.
