Australian youtube Friendlyjordies is being sued by mining tycoon Clive Palmer (fatty mcfuckhead). This is his response.

Imagine the worst thing you ever did being the only thing people remember about you forever, must be awful.

Perhaps, but people are entitled to their opinions. I may regret my actions and behavior, but that doesn't mean others have to let it go.

In fact I'd say that what you describe as awful is probably how most people are remembered in general. Most people spend very little time considering how good a father the drunk driver that killed their sibling was, for instance. Shit, to back it up a bit, most people I've met I simply put cannot remember. Those that I've only met once, perhaps twice, that I do remember I don't remember as people but because they were tied into other significant events. That means those people, if they were to throw down a racist tirade because they're frustrated, would forever be remembered by me as that person who threw a racist tirade.

Being a public figure/famous person changes that equation a little, but not across the board. The fans and more dedicated consumers will probably view the incident as part of a larger whole, much like we'd normally view closer friends and family. "Oh? Yeah, Joe is a nasty drunk but he's alright to be around 90% of the time". People who aren't fans and don't really encounter the person normally though? No, they'll remember Joe as that drunken asshole who wrecked a dining room table and took a shit on the television.
