Is the author of 'Confessions of a Sociopath' a sociopath or just a narcissist?

A lot of self aware (somewhat) narcissists like to pretend they're sociopaths because they seem more "strong". Here's the thing. Sociopaths have pretty much no fear. Narcissists do. Narcissists fear not being liked. A sociopath has a high opinion of self that is never compromised. There's a difference. A narcissist will go very far to ensure that they are liked and feel great humiliation when they're not. While both disorders have shallow emotions, sociopaths have almost none. Narcissists do feel pain when they are rejected for instance. A sociopath at most will feel anger, but that's it. Narcissists will feel upset and compromised.

The thing is that a lot of sociopaths are not self aware. I'm usually skeptical that someone claiming to have aspd is telling the truth because most of thr time someone with it will not tell anyone because it makes it harder to manipulate people. A socipath already believes he is the shit.
