Do Authorization Holds on a credit card count as a “sale” for a company?

I recently ordered an extremely expensive office chair from a company (I’ll leave their name out of this for now), and they keep making authorization holds on the funds. I made the purchase over two months ago and there has been three holds made so far.

I finally emailed them with an impatient tone and asked why they keep doing that, and now they’re on their knees trying to suck me up.

Is this some way or cooking the books or something to make it look like they have more sales than they actually do? Do authorization holds count as a “sale”, and this add to the annual revenue?

Genuine question, I want to report this activity if so. I just want my fucking chair!
