Gotta be honest, I'm gonna need to hear numbers about that statement before I give it any weight. Lots of misinformation going around on Twitter lately in all news.
It's a veiled accusation of turning off autopilot to 'tidy up' crash statistics on autopilot, that's clear as day. This would mean the end of Tesla operating as we know it almost without question, this is VW emissions scandal level and then some. It would set back self-driving cars by years due to the immediate and harsh legislation that the nation would demand.
Because this is something that should be easily reproducible by anyone with money who wants to spite Elon, I'm not reading any more into that until a media agency that's not reporting through a twitter account picks that up.
