I really don’t get the Ava hate either. She’s flawed and has some idealism that is misplaced, but that’s the joke, right?! She’s not out there trying to hurt people or bully them or get her way at others’ expense. She’s not a vicious antihero, she’s just a young person with an interesting job trying her best to figure shit out and I’m here for it.

Especially after The Click and how her character reaches out to her mom (a super-annoying and self-absorbed crazy person), you can see her learning the value in trying to accept other people for who they are. I would also add that she could have gone super petulant about being sued by her boss and do her best to sabotage Deborah. But I think that Ava realizes that maybe being sued (though harsh) is not completely unwarranted. That takes a certain amount of self-awareness and maturity.
