Gonna try and keep shit anonymous, but my best friend's dad is in line to becoming one of the top 27 politicians in China (As far as I'm aware, there's a top 7 and and then second in the hierarchy is 20 others). This year he invited me to visit China free of charge. I flew out first class, stayed in luxurious 5* hotels, we travelled everywhere via private driver in one of those mercedes blacked out vans with massage chairs and TVs in the back. I went to Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, the Great Wall, everything basically paid for.

We met on my university business course during a group project when I offered to help him with a bit of his work. I had no idea of his status before hand but we've formed a strong duo; I help him with written reports and he helps me with finances now and then.

The chances of us meeting are actually kinda crazy though when I think about it. I come from a working/lower class family. My dad is a bin man and my mum a dinner lady, yet I'm best friends with (potentially) the son of one of the most powerful men in China!

Moral of the story is, you really have no clue on who you're gonna meet in life and its worth offering a helping hand now and then, even when you're not asked too!
