Awesome scripture I came across today in today's Bible studying.

Im not belittling your faith by quoting other portions of your magic book that are ridiculous (and require stupendous liturgical contortions just to be palatable even to those who believe it) am I?

Actually you are, first by calling it a magic book, calling parts of it ridiculous, and saying that it needs to be contorted extremely in order to be palatable. It's just beyond rude in so many ways.

First off, is OP a devout religious guy or just someone casually learning bible in a Bible class? You have no idea his background and you are already out of the gate judging unfavorably. Maybe he agrees it's a "magic" book or maybe he doesn't ascribe so much heart into it other than curiosity or some other learning regiment he's a part of. Then after your judgment, you threw in a bunch of slander at the source, which, fine, we can choose to see the negative in religious things or we can see that THIS is what works for this guy, just as cold showers works for others, just as working out, meditation, adopting a hobby, etc is what others do. Why are you so critical just because YOU don't resonate with this method? Who is he hurting?

Apologies for the shitstorm this may create.

If you are, you'll delete your post.

I respect anyone here of any culture or country and respect that they struggle as much as the next guy with life's problems, but

That "but" at the end means "even though I just said something nice, I'm going to throw it all away and start insulting.

I must admit something here gets me 'triggered' when someone cherry-picks some groovy quote and yet conveniently ignores absolute nonsense not ten lines previous.

Okay, he also ignored lines about Bilams talking donkey and Moses striking a rock instead of talking to it. OP must be super dishonest in his omissions. But really, there's wisdom to be taken from this line for people in this group and you are just detracting from it with your post. The best thing you could do is to ignore and look away. Let OP relate and succeed in nofap on his terms and don't shame him for how he does it. Be the bigger man in this situation.

Also, adjust your sensitivities in life if a Bible verse triggers you. Being triggered is a real thing. I have a PTSD trigger from when I was visiting Israel and terrorists were firing rockets from Gaza. The sound of the warning siren gets played at various sport stadiums and makes me freak the heck out and panic even though I know there is nothing for me to be worried about. But you're saying you're triggered by a harmless, positive Bible verse. Don't diminish actual triggers because you have some bone to pick with religion.
