Alright friend. I'm using a throwaway because I have friends on reddit who absolutely know this story and I try to keep my reddit account as private as possible

Once I was 19, a virgin, and drunk with a female friend who I found attractive but was not actively pursuing. We were hanging out very late one night (she was going to crash on my couch) and we were vaguely snuggling on the couch and watching a movie. As mentioned above, we had both had a few drinks. This sounds like a situation where fooling around could happen. However that would have required nuance, reading of body language, and of course mutual consent.

In my very drunk state I attempted to commence said fooling around. I decided the best way to go about this was to interrupt her and simply say "So hey...do you just wanna like...fuck?"

Silence for about 10 seconds. Her response "No...actually I'm good...yeah no thanks"

Silence for 5 seconds. My response "Oh yeah. For sure. That's totally cool. Awesome. Yeah"

And we continued vaguely cuddling, watching the movie, and chatting. We didn't speak of said incident for 2 and a half years (at which point we both had a good laugh).

Literally one of the most awkward moments of my life. But don't worry, you won't be a virgin forever. More people your age are virgins than let on.
