[AZ] My nephew used my computer after I explicitly told him not to. He found porn and his mother is threatening me with various legal actions.

OP should definitely cease contact with the sister. But it would be interesting if she actually did try to take this to a lawyer.

Idk about OPs area, but in some jurisdictions attorneys are mandated reporters of child abuse. So if sister really did try and seek advice for this, spin it as “intentionally exposing young child to pornography”, and she ended up getting reported to child services, that would be a hell of a laugh for OP.

They’d definitely come check it out if her story was as batshit as I’d expect it to be. They’d come talk to the kid and the sister and OP. But you know whose name the case would be under? The sister. Who would be found as negligent for this incident?

Nobody. But people who are doing illegal things and aggressively threatening others and trying to extort are usually not the best parents. OPs sister could wind up having the investigation uncover issues with her parenting, and she would be the one who ended up with a child welfare case/founded allegation against her.

It’s going out on a limb and not a likely outcome, but in my line of work bad people with personality issues tend to not hold up well with CPS. This could definitely make her life uncomfortable for a bit if she decided to really blow it out of proportion and lie or exaggerate what happened all to get back at her big mean gay brother.
