The Aziz Ansari Paradox

There's also a paradox because Ansari is so average in his grossness. Weinstein and Cosby are some of the sickest fucks out there, but Ansari represents the average scumbag. When the Ansari story broke, I read so many comments saying that Grace was exaggerating, that it was no big deal, that every other guy pulls this shit, hell, they even said that the poor sod was just confused!

Why didn't she slap him/leave his place/scream/scratch his eyes out?

It was eerie to see how the used the SAME justifications and excuses that were used in the past to defend rapists and blame victims. He was a tad less horrible than the ''outright'' rapists, and so we saw all the old, misogynistic, victim-blaming defenses emerge.

The same old ''he was confused, she didn't reject him loud enough, why did she even come home with him, can't a guy interact with a woman at all anymore, she's whining, yadda yadda''

I saw a real paradox emerge there, and I think that a lot of the discussion erupted because people didn't really know what to do with it. Yes, he was gross. But so was their ex, or that one guy they dated, or that one guy they had an ONS with.... Grace's story describes a very common experience with pushy guys who actually really do go too far.
