Bøllywøød, master of time and physics

Tamil ethnic group has their own movie industry and doesn't like being conflated with Bollywood/Northern Indian ethnic groups because the Northern Indian ethnic groups discriminate against the Southern Indian ethnic groups politically

hyper-simplified, but I saw a Tallywood (Tamil-Bolly/Holly) movie with this guy in it in Kerala a few summers ago and the movie was really divisive. It was getting pulled from theaters because it depicted the urban, Delhi-based progressive villain as evil, but also compared him to Rama and the hero of the film, the bollywood actor we see above, as Ravana - the sort-of equivalent of saying that the side that represents Jesus is evil and the side that represents Satan is good, but for Hinduism. The villain stood for development of rural communities, while the hero stood for the city folk leaving them the fuck alone. The release of the movie came alongside major friction between the Tamils and their neighboring regions over the development of a dam, I believe.

Fascinating region of the world! The movie (which I didn't remember the name of) is called Kaala. It has a kickass soundtrack.

FURTHER NOTE: When seeing movies in India, people stand up and cheer and whistle at fights, and generally are as raucous and amazing as a large group of people seeing movies like the above and being very into it would be. Consistently the kindest people I have met across the world have been in India.
