PWTorch Newsletter - February 12, 2000 Scott Steiner was not authorized to say the things he said about WCW, Steve Austin, & especially Ric Flair on Nitro this week. When he got backstage after the interview, Kevin Sullivan confronted him about improvising (the term WCW uses is "producing yourself"). J.J. Dillon told him not to wear the Superman shirt because it is trademarked by DC Comics. Steiner was told not to attend Thunder & was basically "suspended with pay" until further notice He is considered a loose cannon & there are members of management - especially Dillon - who are intimidated by him. They fear if they say the wrong thing to Steiner, he will snap. Steiner's comments are reflective of resentment some wrestlers in WCW have for Ric Flair's push. The interview didn't fit any ongoing or planned storyline & it wasn't clear whether fans were supposed to resent or sympathize with Steiner's comments. It is one more example of Bill Busch having lost control of WCW.
PWTorch Newsletter - May 27, 2000 Scott Steiner threw a fit after the May 15 Nitro. Witnesses say he was mad that the Goldberg truck was late arriving during his angle with Rick Steiner and Tank Abbott. As a result, Scott Steiner had to sell longer than he wanted to. He was also upset that either Rick or Abbott accidentally kicked him in the mouth a short time after he had dental work done. Witnesses also laughed at Russo who tried to calm Steiner down. Says one source, "He catered to his ego because he's afraid of him like everyone else who has ever been in charge (of WCW)".
PWTorch Newsletter - December 2, 2000 The transformation Steiner has undergone over the past couple of years has been amazing. His promos are some of the best in the business, and his workrate has actually improved as his injuries have worsened. Steiner is WCW's fastest rising star since Goldberg. His unpredictability on camera is similar to that of Steve Austin during the peak of "Stone Cold mania".
