For a lot of women like me, the church becomes a prison. It feels as though our freedom of expression in dress, attitudes, statements, etc. has all been taken away. We are cautioned to be “good girls” and not rock the boat. Trying to live up to the idealization of women instead of being “normal” (human) and being free to openly being ourselves robs women like me of our true identities, personalities, and characters. Granted, there are women who revel in being domestic goddesses, and that’s fine if that’s what they want and how they perceive themselves. However, I strongly feel that we are not meant to be cookie cutter women or be like the Stepford Wives.
