Badgerys Creek Airport to be ready by 2000 for the Sydney Olympic Games

Hey mate, no worries, thanks so much for sending that over. That planning document is great -- it's also interesting to see my own personal observations confirmed by official government plans. Melbourne is one of the few "global cities" with significant land available for development and it has the "bones" which can sustain a larger population. That's rare, especially in the mature economies of the anglosphere (here in the US, we're already in the secondary city development phase, where the major cities are no longer livable for most and they are migrating to secondary and tertiary interior cities with lower COL). In Melbourne, the migration will be from interstate, largely to the north and west of CBD, as well as from overseas, and then eventually spill over to Adelaide, IMO. I want to move to Melbourne soon, as it'd be exciting to be a part of a new global city developing over the next 30 years.

This is definitely an interesting area, and it interests me because it's about long term vision versus short term hype. I like thinking on a larger macro scale about where things are headed. Last year, I left a job here in NYC in commercial real estate. I am a lawyer by profession, though. I would love to work in land acquisition in MEL but not sure how I would land a job in that space. Ideally would do this with my own money but land banking is not really possible for an average individual.

Would love to discuss more. My email is [email protected] .

Cheers

Sherwin
