Baltimore day care worker pleads guilty to smothering baby to death, gets 70 years in prison

I worked at a daycare for one day. Interviewed the day prior and they had me “train” aka read over a booklet of state procedures for about three hours and then left me alone with about 15-20 kids (well over the limit for kid to teacher in that age range). I was hired telling them I was willing to train but didn’t have extensive childcare knowledge (young and looking for ANY job). A kid picked up a larger rock that the teacher of the room had sitting out for decoration (what the fuck... these kids were between three and four) and bashed it into another students forehead, leaving him COVERED in blood and screaming. I was so in shock I left at the end of day and called first thing in the morning to say I would not be back - the director of the center BEGGED me to reconsider and I politely told her I would not be sticking around to be sued by the next parent that that happens to. Parents - DO NOT believe daycare centers and be SO careful and make many in-class visits to see how trained the workers are. This center was lying to parents about their training and hiring practices and it was frightening to be a part of.
