Why not when they're older? They barely even understand how hetero relationships work, personally I just don't think elementary school kids have the mental capacity to actually understand it with everything else. Teach them when you think they'll understand, but the vast majority of these kids haven't seen a gay couple, and they simply don't care, they think it's a joke when they read the book. Just like one of the other comments, he thought it was supposed to be funny. Putting gay couples in books doesn't help them understand anything, they'll either get confused or take it as a joke. Feel free to downvote as that seems like everyone on this app wants to do. It's a controversial opinion and I'm not going to hide it. But people need to face the truth
