I think that you missed the point I was trying to make. I've argued with liberals who would be okay with getting rid of democratic institutions if they can get liberal goodies they like in return. There are some people on the left who are okay with jettisoning the Constitution and going back to an absolute dictator or monarch as long as that tyrant is "progressive" and implements stuff that they like such as Medicare for All, getting rid of guns, etc. People have the absolute right to advocate for any policy that they wish left or right, but they must do so within the confines of the Constitution and democratic institutions. Not respecting the institutions, rule of law, etc. is becoming an issue on both the left and the right.
