I can't help feeling like we are the lab rats of the world stage.

The fact it's new doesn't bother me so much, the flu jab is basically new each year and I get that. I also got the first rollout of the HPV one.

The accelerated timescale and the fact that nobody else has yet approved it though is not an ideal circumstance. The UK is not exactly the front line for cutting new medical advances.

Then there is the key workers thing. The goverment has gotten very close to saying key workers lives matter more than everyone else's several times over this pandemic and it's a line I am very uncomfortable with. I would much prefer it phrased that high risk spreaders get it first (which is really most key workers) after all the vulnerable folks do.

Idk I'm pessimistic in general. By the time anyone outside of the NHS and care homes gets it it will be 6 months from now. Even vulnerable folks aren't getting it for a while.

I will 100% be getting it when offered (presuming some little old biddy in a care home hasn't gone full zombie or anything) but I am personally a little unhappy with it. I end up quite sick after my fly jab each year. As in fucked for a 3-10 days and need to schedule when I get the jab to cause minimal disturbance. What is this one going to do to me? I don't know. I am not sure anyone knows.

Of course that is really a sign that the actual flu (or covid) would knock me on my arse or put me in hospital, I will take the weaker form over the full strength one any day of the week but not knowing is what has me disgruntled/nervous.

Vaccines just don't go smoothly for me in general. I have no idea why - I don't have any allergies to speak of so it's not like I'm allergic to it. It's not an exaggerated responce to a needle I could fall asleep during a blood draw. I just get pretty sick.
