Batman V Superman Thoughts.

(Referring to the Ultimate Cut) Personally I found a lot to enjoy in the movie. I love the portrayal of Superman when he's in his Clark Kent persona, I loved Snyder's interpretation of Batman and his world (killing and all lol), Wonder Woman totally stole the show for me, it was pretty great to see the Trinity unite, I find the themes really strong, and the action is breathtaking. Although I do have issues with the film. Although I think Snyder nailed the Clark Kent side of things, and I say this as a lifelong Superman fan and even a defender of Zack's own Man of Steel film, I really dislike this interpretation of Superman. I know people on this subreddit make fun of it, but seriously, what happened to the days when Superman was happy and the camera didn't pan away when he smiled? I'm not saying he should be happy all the way through, I get why he gets all mopey after the Senate bombing, that was traumatic for him but in the first act of the film I really would've liked to see more of a traditional Superman attitude if not for anything else so we feel the emotion of this bright dude going into a deep dark depression better as opposed to him being sad right from the get-go let's actually build up to it. And I'm sorry, but he really needed to say at least- something during the Senate hearing to defend himself instead of just standing there. Next onto the Nightmare scene, which as a fanboy was incredible to witness Parademons and The Flash make their big screen debuts and its an incredibly fun set piece no doubt, but if you really look at it in the flow of the movie, the film just kind of grinds to a halt to jerk off comic fans. It's not placed naturally into the film at all and having seen both cuts multiple times I'm always surprised when it starts because it literally is just plopped in Out of nowhere. I also could've done without Lex's ticks tbh. If those weren't in there I wouldn't mind this version of the character as much, because he's not that bad of a character (again speaking of the Ultimate Cut) and his dialogue is pretty decent it's just the ticks Eisenberg interjected in just make it so annoying. If I'm being frank though my issues with Lex and the Nightmare are only nitpicks my only main issue with the film is Superman's characterization, and its a big issue because he's HALF THE FUCKING MOVIE. Overall I thoght it was decent, but I'm glad we're going in a lighter direction with Justice League. BvS gets a 6/10. It's a good film but not my ideal version of this universe.
