All slaughter methods are torturous, because living, sentient beings don’t want to be slaughtered.

And I don’t just want meat treated like alcohol or tobacco. Those substances don’t directly harm anyone, other than the one who consumes them. Meat, on the other hand, always has a victim — the animal murdered to produce it. A better analog for meat consumption would be slavery, or serial murder. It is equal in the amount of harm it does.

In an ideal world, murdering a sentient animal should be treated exactly as murdering a human. You kill an innocent being and eat their flesh? You spend the rest of your life in prison.

I’m not an extremist about most things, but I am an extremist about protecting innocents from needless suffering.
